In conjunction with the Traditional Cowboy Arts Association (TCAA), this workshop will introduce tools used in blacksmithing and their function. Tools, including chisels and punches, will be created using principles of blacksmithing and can be utilized in the bit and spur making process. The culminating project, a set of tongs, will be constructed exercising the techniques taught. Bit and spur making, as it relates to the principles learned, will be addressed to enhance the participants’ skill set. Limited enrollment. This workshop is suitable for beginner to expert. Instructor: Sam Gooding, CJF, is an accomplished tool-maker having provided advanced training and clinics throughout his career. $680, $600 for Museum members. Cancellation Policy

Advance reservations are required for workshops and classes held at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. REGISTRATION AND CANCELLATION: Cancellations made by February 1 will receive a refund. Cancellations received after February 1 will not be eligible for a refund. Class fees will not be prorated for late enrollment. Programs are held "rain or shine" unless the Museum is closed due to severe weather conditions. WAIT LIST: Waiting lists are available after classes are full and are maintained in the order reservations are received. Should a space become available, you will be contacted. PUBLICITY WAIVER: Unless notified otherwise, enrollment indicates authorization of your photo, or your child's photo, in any future National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum advertising, publicity, and publications issued from the Museum. Your likeness or your child's, could appear on a billboard, print ad, brochure, magazine, television, web site, flier, etc. The Museum is not responsible for unauthorized reproductions made by individuals not associated with the Museum.
