John Wayne's granddaughter, Anita La Cava Swift, delivers opening remarks at a special screening of El Dorado (1967) and a scrumptious buffet prepared by The Petroleum Club of Oklahoma City. The late Roger Ebert said, "El Dorado is a tightly directed, humorous, altogether successful Western, turned out almost effortlessly, it would seem, by three old pros: John Wayne, Robert Mitchum and director Howard Hawks." Cole Thornton, a gunfighter for hire, joins forces with an old friend, Sheriff J.P. Hara. Together with an old Indian fighter and a gambler, they help a rancher and his family fight a rival rancher that is trying to steal their water (2 hrs 6 min, appropriate for ages 12 ). The buffet features mixed green salad, Caesar salad, cranberry salad, salmon with lemon caper sauce on a bed of spinach, balsamic glazed chicken with sundried tomato sauce, parmesan mashed potatoes, roasted fingerling potatoes, green beans and carrots, and a dessert bar with carrot cake, pecan pie, and creme brulee cheesecake. $40 per person; $35 for Museum members. Register online by December 3.
